AVPS International Standard: Jointly developed by Japan and Germany

-Level 4 Autonomous Driving in a Parking Lot-

ーAdopted by ISO International Standardー

We will deliver a summary from the article published in the Autonomous Driving Lab.

Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry:

In July 2023, the Japan-Germany AVPS International Standard will come into effect.

In the parking lot, it is a requirement related to automatic driving level 4 / unmanned driving.

What is an automated valet parking system?

AVPS refers to technologies and services that unmannedly move and park vehicles in parking lots.

A service that allows you to leave your vehicle in and out of the parking lot at a hotel, etc.

This is unmanned with automatic driving technology.

Proposing Japanese technology to ISO:

In 2016, a demonstration project for general vehicles and AVPS started in Japan.

In 2017, Japan proposed a demonstration technology to ISO, TC204, and WG14.

In 2018, the function was demonstrated in an actual parking lot. Formulation of a business model.

In July 2023, it will go into effect as the international standard “ISO 23374-1”.

AVPS performance requirements

The official name is Automated valet parking systems (AVPS)

Those that perform level 4 automated driving in parking facilities.

Test procedures for environmental requirements and performance requirements for parking facilities were stipulated.

benz and bosch

Germany’s Mercedes-Benz and Bosch are leading in AVPS technology.

AVPS was installed at the Mercedes-Benz Museum and Stuttgart Airport.

Partnered with Bedrock in the US. We are promoting introduction for real estate.

Germany’s BMW and France’s Valeo

In 2023, we signed a strategic alliance with Level 4 and AVPS.

It plans to develop infrastructure-based services.

Chinese AVPS

Baidu, SAIC Motor, and Human Horizons have started installing AVPS.

However, it is unknown whether it has strictly reached level 4.

Japanese AVPS

Panasonic, Aisin, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, etc. are under development.

panasonic

In 2019, Panasonic’s Automotive Company announced AVPS development.

No need for expensive sensor installations in vehicles or parking infrastructure.

OK with vehicle cameras, sonar, radar, and 2D road maps such as stop lines,

A security camera was used to keep the distance between adjacent vehicles at 20 centimeters.

Amano and Aisin

In 2020, we demonstrated AVPS in a general parking lot.

The parking lot data detected by the camera system is provided to self-driving cars.

This data is used to realize unmanned parking.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries

Jointly developed with Stanley Robotics of France.

Utilizing the transport robot “Stan”. Practical use of AVPS is underway.

If you put your car in the berth, the robot will automatically transport it.

When you go home, call it on your smartphone.
