Toray: To start producing LiB and BSF in Hungary: “Toray Industries Hungary Kft.”
Toray Industries, Inc .: July 16, 2019
Decided to establish a battery separator film (BSF) production facility for lithium-ion secondary batteries (LiB) in the city of Niergeswiegal, Hungary.
New production facilities will be set up in Toray Hungary (established in April 2018: Toray Industries Hungary Kft.).
As a result, the BSF production capacity of the entire Toray Group will be increased to approximately 20% a year.
The operation will start in July 2021.

Toray announces establishment of production base for parts for LiB
Toray: US Soltec
In 2014, we acquired US Soltec, which manufactures and sells carbon fiber.
Currently, we are producing products for wind power generation.
New plants for LiB and BSF:
It will be built near Soltec’s Hungarian plant.
Korea SK Innovation:
Production of lithium-ion batteries for EVs is scheduled to start in 2020 in the Koma Lom area.
Korea Inge Controls:
just announced the establishment of a battery module production base for EVs in July (see article on July 12, 2019)
Following Korea, Japanese companies will also start producing EV related parts in Hungary.
