On October 4th, we announced the sales ranking of passenger cars and vehicles for the first half of the fiscal year 2019 (April to September).

Toyota “Prius” tops for the first time in two years at 66,628 units, up 22.5% year-on-year.

Nissan No., the top of the previous year, fell 6.0% year-on-year to 59,474 units, falling to the second place with sluggish growth.

Third place was Toyota “Sienta”, selling 55,602 units, an increase of 43.9% year-on-year.

On October 4, the Japan Automobile Import Association announced the number of newly registered imported vehicles (foreign car manufacturers) for the first half of FY2019 (April to September). The number of vehicles increased by 1.8% year-on-year to 152,240 units, a positive for the fifth consecutive year.

1st place [1st place]: Mercedes-Benz 31,742 units (up 2.6%, up for the first time in 2 years)

2nd place [3rd place]: BMW 24,136 units (down 1.3%, down for 5 consecutive years)

3rd place [2nd place]: Volkswagen 23,526 units (down 7.0%, down for the first time in 2 years)

4th [4th]: Audi 13162 units (down 3.0%, down for 4 consecutive years)

5th [5th]: BMW MINI 12,677 units (up 0.04%, up for 5 consecutive years)

6th [6th]: Volvo 9173 units (up 5.1%, up for 5 consecutive years)

7th [7th]: Jeep 7954 units (up 39.5%, up for 6 consecutive years)

8th [8th]: Peugeot 5343 units (up 10.1%, up for 5 consecutive years)

9th [9th]: Porsche 3688 units (up 10.5%, up for 2 consecutive years)

10th [10th]: Renault 3218 units (down 3.4%, down for 2 consecutive years)

24,706 units, down 12.3% from the previous year, the first negative in two years.
