Central Asia: Outbreak of grasshoppers: Japan supports extermination

Japanese goverment:

We provide pesticides.

The Japanese government will begin supporting six countries including Central Asia within the month.

Extermination of grasshopper:

Insecticide,
Atomizer,
To collect and share the occurrence data
Provide GPS receiver.
We also aim to reduce damage by promoting cooperation among countries.

Target countries:

Uzbekistan
Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan
Tajikistan
Turkmenistan
Afghanistan-6 countries.
Agriculture is a key industry in both cases.

Japanese Government Support:

In July 2020, will lead the international grasshopper damage countermeasures.

Agreed to spend up to 798 million yen with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

In the future, we will provide equipment developed in Japan and start online training for local staff.

South American Paraguay: A large herd of grasshoppers

Following Africa and India, it occurred in South American Paraguay.

A swarm of grasshoppers has reached Argentina and is approaching the border.

Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture:

A phytosanitary emergency declaration was issued in preparation for the invasion of grasshopper hordes in southern Brazil.

The Ministry of Agriculture Ordinance (Portaria) No. 201 of June 24, 2020 was promulgated on 25th and was put into effect immediately.
