Stream technology: Compression accelerator for IoT: Stream data compression with LSI

National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology / Stream Technology

Data that continues to flow from sensors and devices (stream data) is continuously lossless compressed without any interruption.

Compression technology: “LCA-DLT”

This compression technology “LCA-DLT” was successfully implemented on a large scale integrated circuit (LSI).

Can be used as a compression accelerator for small computers for IoT.

Achieved ultra-low power consumption of 1/30 compared to the previous model

Stream Technology Co., Ltd .:

We will promote commercialization of the developed LSI.

Contributes to lower power consumption and faster communication between IoT devices and the cloud.

“Stream data compression evaluation kit”:

Developed “Stream Data Compression Evaluation Kit” equipped with FPGA with LCA-DLT installed, and started sales today.

Exhibited at NEDO zone in “Innovation Japan 2019” to be held at Tokyo Big Sight

4K image compression / decompression: (Figure 4)

4K images were compressed / decompressed using the developed LSI.

Compared to the case of using the LCA-DLT algorithm on a processor of a small computer for IoT, it was compressed with 1/30 power and decompressed with 1/10 power.

Demonstration that stream data can be reduced with ultra-low power consumption.
