🏆RIKEN receives ’21st Century Invention Award’ for ‘Radioactive Waste Treatment Method’
The patent “The method of treating radioactive waste (Patent No. 6106892)” of the RIKEN (RIKEN) and Toshiba Energy Systems Co., Ltd., Japan Atomic Energy Research Organization, Science and Technology Promotion Organization, is published by the Public Interest Corporation Incorporated Association of Japan Incorporated ” We received the “21st Century Invention Award” of the national invention awards.
In order to realize resource recycling and reduction of long-lived fission products (LLFP) [1] contained in high-level radioactive waste, the award-winning invention is divided into odd segregation [2] and It is a method combining transmutation with accelerator [3] (Fig. 1).
