Japan’s nuclear power is facing the era of decommissioning.

NHK has compiled a report to each power company and research institute .

The total cost of decommissioning nuclear power plants and nuclear facilities across the country was found to be at least ¥ 6.7 trillion.

53 nuclear power plants (excluding 3 nuclear power plants under construction):

Decommissioning costs are ¥ 3,0 trillion and the average cost is ¥ 57.7 billion per unit.

Other nuclear power plant:

The spent nuclear fuel reprocessing plant (Aomori Prefecture) is the largest at ¥ 1.6 trillion.

Japan Atomic Energy Agency:

Expenses such as dismantling of 79 facilities of the whole country announced with ¥1,9 trillion.

If you include personnel expenses etc., it will reach ¥3.0  trillion.

Decommissioning cost of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant:

The total cost is expected to be 8 trillion yen.

Electricity charges and taxes are paid for these expenses.
