Hitachi: Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, Robot for Internal Investigation-Submersible Boat Robot

Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant:

TEPCO will extract the nuclear fuel that has melted away in the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station next year.

The robot used in the survey was released in a plan to conduct an internal survey of Unit 1 and the containment vessel.

Submersible boat robot:

On the 28th, a manufacturer’s factory in Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture, released a boat type robot with a diving function, which will be used in the survey of the first unit next year.

The robot is cylindrical with a length of approximately 1 m10 cm and a diameter of 25 cm, and is equipped with a camera and a dosimeter.

It has the role of attaching parts to pass the cables necessary for remote control into the containment vessel, and the appearance of moving the robot at the test facility was also disclosed.
