USA: New car sales in 3Q: 9.6% year-on-year decrease

US Q3: New car sales
New car sales from July to September decreased by 9.6% year-on-year to 3,908,265 units.
It fell sharply due to the influence of the new coronavirus.
12.3% decrease in the first quarter (January to March),
Compared to the 33.4% decrease in the second quarter (April to June), the rate of decrease has narrowed.
Unit sales by department:
Passenger cars, 924,856 units, down 21.8% year-on-year,
Light trucks decreased 5.1% to 2,983,409 units.
Pickup trucks decreased by 2.5%,
SUVs decreased by 4.6%, a relatively small decrease.
By major manufacturer: (See Appendix Table 2)
Sales of all manufacturers except Kia decreased year-on-year.
The rate of decrease for each company is smaller than in the second quarter.
Kia:
In 2020, the CUV “Seltos” and the passenger car “K5” will be launched on the market.
The new model performed well, up 3.9% year-on-year.
Nissan:
The CUV “Rogue” and the passenger car “Altima” fell sharply.
The rate of decrease is the largest decrease of 32.4% among major manufacturers.
