Automobile Import Distribution Association (AVID):

The number of new car sales in 2018 decreased by 15.3% from the previous year to 401,624 units (see the figure)

Philippine new car sales volume fell below the previous year for the first time in seven years.

In January 2018, the number of new car dealers seems to have dropped due to the effects of tax increases on automobile taxes and purchase of high-priced items.

Number of units sold by manufacturer:

Toyota: 152,389 first place

Mitsubishi: 66,081 units

Hyundai: 35,401 units

Top 3 companies, no change in ranking from previous year

Nissan (34,952 units) ranked fourth, ranked from seventh in the previous year.
