Toyota Motor: TRI-AD

On February 28, it announced that it would work with Carmera of the United States for high-precision maps / automatic creation used for automatic driving.

From April, demonstration tests will be started in urban areas in Tokyo.

April Demonstration Test:

Use a general-purpose in-vehicle camera mounted on the experimental vehicle.

From the acquired data, a high-precision map is automatically created using the CARMERA software base.

We have already verified the automatic map generation technology using a drive recorder in Tokyo’s 23 wards and two cities in the United States.

Using only the data from the drive recorder, we succeeded in “generating a map of relative accuracy required for automatic driving: about 40 cm * 1”.
