JAXA: “H3” launch vehicle, separation test open: Fairing development

Next generation “H3” rocket:
On 17th, at the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Harima Plant in Harima-cho, Hyogo Prefecture, a test to separate the cover “Fairing” attached to the tip of the next-generation rocket “H3” was released.
H3 rocket: successor to H2A and H2B
The H3 rocket is a successor to the current H2A and H2B.
A test aircraft will be launched in the latter half of 2020.
The total project cost is about 190 billion yen.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries is in charge of fairing development.
In the test, the explosive inside the 16.4 meter tall fairing was ignited and successfully separated to break.
