German Ministry of Economy and Energy:

“European Battery Innovation”:

The storage battery supply system in the EU is being strengthened.

On March 10, the details of the grant were announced for “4 companies in Germany participating in the second project”.

4 companies announced this time:

Two companies in Bavaria, southeastern Germany
The two companies are located in Saxony, eastern Germany.
Bavarian companies:

SGL Carbon
In this project, we aim to research and industrialize new manufacturing processes and reuse of storage battery negative electrode materials.
The federal government and Bavaria will subsidize a total of € 42.9 million by 2029.

Alumina Systems
Develop cells for home and industrial stationary storage batteries based on sodium nickel chloride (Na / NiCl2).
The federal government and Bavaria will jointly subsidize € 8.7 million.

Companies in Saxony:

Skeleton Technologies
Lithium-ion batteries with large storage capacity and
A long-life, high-output density electric double layer capacitor (ultracapacitor)
Research and develop energy storage that combines the advantages of each.

Utilizing Industry 4.0, we also aim to significantly reduce the cost of capacitors.
Received a total of 51 million euros from the federal government and the state of Saxony.

Liofit
Research the recycling of lithium-ion batteries for small mobility.
In Germany, more than 4 million electrically power assisted bicycles are currently in use.
It is expected that a large amount of storage batteries will need to be recycled in the future.

The company will receive a € 2.84 million grant from the federal government and the state of Saxony.
