German cars: 3Q, sales in China increased year-on-year: VW, BMW, Daimler

Volkswagen (VW):
On October 29, it announced the number of units sold in the third quarter of 2020.
Sales results for the third quarter of major German automobile companies including BMW and Daimler are complete.
3 companies: 3rd quarter sales
Sales of all three companies are on a recovery trend in the third quarter.
However, it has not yet recovered from the decline in the first half of 2020.
The characteristic is:
All three companies sold in China, up year-on-year in the third quarter.
VW Group:
Sales in the third quarter of 2020 decreased 1.1% year-on-year to 2,612,000 units.
From January to September 2020, sales will decrease by 18.7% to 6,505,000 units.
The number of vehicles sold in 2020 will be significantly lower than the previous year’s level.
Global passenger car sales in 2020 are forecast to decrease by 15-20% year-on-year and in Western Europe by about 25%.
Daimler:
Passenger car sales in the third quarter of 2020 decreased by 6.3% from the previous year to 566,581 units.
From January to September 2020, 1,446,086 units decreased by 16.7% from the previous year.
Unit sales in China:
In the third quarter, it increased by 23.4% (213,84 units) from the previous year.
From January to September, it increased by 5.2% from the previous year (541,585 units).
January-September sales in Europe and North America:
Europe: 27.4% decrease from the previous year (532,388 units),
North America: Only 25.5% year-on-year decrease (189,554 units).
BMW:
In the third quarter, it increased by 8.6% from the previous year to 675,680 units.
From January to September 2020, the number of vehicles decreased by 12.5% from the previous year to 1,638,316 units.
EV and PHV sales:
In the third quarter, it recorded a 46.6% increase (54,719 units) from the previous year.
From January to September 2020, the number of vehicles increased by 20.0% from the previous year to 116,381 units.
By region:
China
31.1% increase (230,612 units) in the third quarter, 6.4% increase (559,681 units) from January to September
Europe
7.1% increase in Q3 (275,618 units)
USA
In the third quarter, the recovery was delayed with a 7 15.7% decrease (78,634 units).
