The US CDC has released a report that “the soles of health care workers may carry the new coronavirus.”
As a result of examining the surface of air and objects in a hospital in Wuhan, China, half of the samples from the soles of medical workers working in the intensive care unit were positive.
In addition, the floor rate of pharmacies where only medical personnel come in and out had a 100% positive rate.
The report urges health care workers to disinfect the soles of shoes when they leave an infected patient’s ward.

researchers tested air and surface samples at a hospital in Wuhan, China, where the coronavirus outbreak initiated.
The researchers found that about half of health-care professionals working in intensive care units carried the coronavirus on the soles of their shoes.
Further, the report showed that there was a 100% positive rate from the floor of the pharmacy, where only health-care workers traveled, not infected patients.

CDC: Coronavirus could possibly spread from soles of shoes
According to a report done by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the coronavirus might be spread by the soles of shoes worn by medical workers.
A report
published in the federal agency’s Emerging Infectious Diseases journal
stated that samples from the soles of staff taken at Huoshenshan Hospital in Wuhan showed that the virus could be spread on shoes.
“Furthermore, half of the samples from the soles of the ICU medical staff shoes tested positive,”
the CDC said.
“Therefore, the soles of medical staff shoes might function as carriers.
The three-week positive results from the floor of dressing room four might also arise from these carriers.”
The CDC stated that they highly recommend that soles be disinfected before walking out of wards containing
COVID-19 patients.
