💡AIST: Utilizing blue LED material, converting heat to electricity

– New material design guidelines for high performance thermoelectric materials –

Points of Research Results

Achieved efficient thermoelectric conversion output factor equivalent to 2 to 6 times the existing practical thermoelectric materials.

We utilize semiconductor two-dimensional electron gas making use of high electron mobility of blue light emitting diode material (gallium nitride).

It is expected to provide new material design guidelines for improving the performance of thermoelectric materials.
