The RIKEN Radiation Optics Science Center (next-generation X-ray laser research group), High Bright Light Science Research Center / Collaborative Research Team, at Synchrotron radiation facilities [1] facility and X-ray free electron laser (XFEL) [2] facilities, developed the new concept ‘undulator’.

a method to dramatically improve the permanent magnet / radiation resistance used for ‘undulator’, and demonstrated its effect experimentally and theoretically.

Undulator is an important device for generating high directivity X-rays

We can expect not only to contribute to the stable operation of synchrotron radiation and XFEL facilities but also to the development of a new concept undulator.

This research was published in the online journal Physical Review Letters of the United States (dated September 18: Japan time September 18).
