Taiheiyo Cement: Cement kiln (rotary kiln) Exhaust gas CO2 separation / recovery – CCS demonstration experiment
Taiheiyo Cement:
From January 2019, announced that it will conduct demonstration experiments on CO2 separation and recovery, targeting cement kiln (rotary kiln) exhaust gas.
On December 25, installation of CO2 separation / recovery test equipment (using chemical absorption method) was completed at Fujiwara Factory (Inabe city, Mie prefecture).
This demonstration will be conducted as one of the “Ministry of the Environment’s” Environmentally Friendly CCS Demonstration Project “(FY 2016-2020).
The company has been involved since 2018.
CCS = Carbon sequestration storage technology
In large-scale CO 2 emission sources such as thermal power plants and steel works
Technology to recover CO2 from exhaust gas with high CO2 concentration and store it in the ground or in the sea.
Technologies for recovering CO 2:
Adsorb onto a solid adsorbent (physical adsorption method),
Dissolve in absorbing solution (chemical absorption method)
Selection is made with the membrane through which only CO 2 permeates (membrane filter method)
It is liquefied at extremely low temperature and separated by utilizing the difference in boiling point (cryogenic separation method)
There are four types of.
