Panasonic’s perovskite: “Window glass that generates electricity”
-The world’s first integrated window glass perovskite
ーStarting an experiment with Mitsui Fudosanー
We bring you a summary of Nikkei Crosstech (xTECH) articles.
Panasonic:
On August 31, 2023, we developed a prototype of a perovskite solar cell integrated with glass building materials.
A long-term experiment lasting over a year, including technical verification, has begun.
Integrated glass building material:
perovskite solar cells
A new model house has been built at Fujisawa SST.
Experiment with “Future Co-Creation FINECOURT III”.
Installing transparent perovskite solar cells:
It will be installed on the second floor balcony facing south-southeast of the model house.
The size of the balcony is 3876mm wide x 950mm high.
Transparent perovskite solar cells are arranged in a gradation pattern.
Insert the wiring into the balcony railing.
Test power generation performance and durability:
A design that balances blindfolding and translucency,
Power generation performance due to long-term installation in a real environment,
Check durability etc.
The verification period is until November 29, 2024. Collaboration with Mitsui Fudosan Residential.
Panasonic glass building materials:
Perovskite solar cells integrated with glass building materials.
It is a specification to fabricate the power generation layer directly on the glass substrate.
It combines Panasonic’s inkjet coating method and laser processing technology.
Supports customization in terms of size, transparency, design, etc.
Applications of integrated glass building materials:
In urban areas, the installation locations are the glass surfaces and walls that cover high-rise buildings.
In residential areas, it is easier to use perovskite in glass windows
Glass curtain walls, skylights, balconies, show windows, etc.
Every place that uses glass is a target.

Specification of Perovskite Conversion Efficiency Module
Panasonic HD:
Developed a module with the world’s highest level of conversion efficiency using perovskite solar cells.
World-class conversion efficiency:
It has power generation efficiency equivalent to that of conventional crystalline silicon solar cells.
The world’s highest level as a module of practical size (>800 cm2).
The power generation efficiency was 17.9%, achieving efficiency certification by a third-party measurement organization.
Joint development with NEDO:
Part of this result was obtained from the results of commissioned work by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
Characteristics of solar cells integrated into glass building materials
Our aim is to create perovskite solar cells integrated into glass building materials.
This is achieved by directly forming a power generation layer on a glass substrate.
