2020/9/4

Hanoi, urban railway:

The completion of the first urban railway in Vietnam has been delayed.

Construction by Chinese companies, but are almost finished, the prospect of the opening is not set.

The reason for the delay is unclear:

Citizens are sternly looking at the project, and some people say that it is a museum of failure.

The electronic version of the state-owned radio “Voice of Vietnam” posted such a harsh commentary last year.

Hanoi Metro:

The urban railway is an elevated type and runs about 13 km between Cat Linh and Ha Dong in the center of Hanoi.

Vietnam has underdeveloped public transportation and has high expectations as a countermeasure against traffic congestion and air pollution.

Chinese ODA:

Utilizing China’s official development assistance,

Construction began in 2011

Initially aimed at starting operation in 15 years,

However, it remains unfinished.

The total construction cost has increased from about 9 trillion dong (about 41.4 billion yen) to about 18 trillion dong.
