Cacao producing countries: Ivory Coast and Ghana
Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, the two major cacao producing countries, are planning to introduce a “compensation for income optimization” (DRD) adjustment method from the 2020/2021 harvest year (October 2020 to September 2021) (See article on October 17, 2019)
Along with this, it was made clear that the increase in raw material procurement costs will be added to the sales price.

Introduction of DRD method:
Amid the stagnation of the cacao international market, an agreement was reached in July between the Côte d’Ivoire Coffee Cacao Council (CCC) and Ghana and Cocoboard in order to optimize the income of producers.
From the 2020/2021 cocoa bean trade, a 1 ton / $ 400 surcharge will be imposed.
