Australia (FCAI): New car sales in 2018 – 3% decrease from the previous year

Presentation (January 4), the number of new cars sold in 2018 was 1,153,111 units, down 3.0% from the record high 2017.
New car sales by segment: (See Table 1)
Share of passenger cars: 32.8%, down by 5.0 points from 37.8% in the previous year
Share of SUV: 43.0%, expanded from 39.2% in the previous year
New car sales by manufacturer: (see Table 2)
1st place: Toyota accounted for 18.8% of domestic market
Second place: Mazda (share: 9.7%),
3rd place: Hyundai (8.2%),
4th: Mitsubishi Motors (7.4%),
5th: Ford (6.0)
Ranking by vehicle type:
Second place: Toyota “Hilux” (51, 705 vehicles, up 9.8% from the previous year) Continued the most popular model in the previous year
Second place: Ford ‘Ranger’ 42,144
3rd place: Toyota “Corolla” 35,230 units
4th place: Mazda “Mazda 3” 31,065 units
5th: Contemporary “i30” 28,188 units
