With “artificial photosynthesis that creates organic matter from CO2 with sunlight”

Energy conversion efficiency from sunlight,

“We have achieved a conversion efficiency of 10.5%, which is the target level,” the company announced.

Achieving the highest level in the world:

In April of this year, it just announced that it had achieved the highest level in the world.

It is closer to practical use.

It is assumed that CO2 emitted from the factory will be used.

Developed equipment:

Using solar energy,
From CO2 and water
Produces a type of organic acid, “formic acid”.

Chemical reaction of formic acid with oxygen produces electricity.

It can be used as fuel for power generation.

World’s Largest Scale:

2011:
Toyota Central R & D Labs succeeded in demonstrating artificial photosynthesis in 2011.

2021:
In April of this year, we just increased the conversion efficiency to 7.2%, the highest in the world, with the “device with a size of 36 cm square”.

In December of this year, in order to collect a lot of sunlight, the device was enlarged “up to 1 meter square”.

2030:
We are aiming to establish a technological foundation for practical use.
