Tohoku region: “Four-eyed antelope”: God’s messenger⁉

-Witnessed near the parking lot in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture-

Eiji Okamoto (80):

I thought it was God’s messenger.

On May 22, I met an antelope near the parking lot in Tsuyama-cho, Tome City.

“Four-eyed antelope”:

When I turned around, I was about 30 meters away.

I took a picture with a telephoto camera and checked the image.

It looks like it has four eyes.

The coat color is a little different, and the corners are broken, so there is only one.

Tohoku Wildlife Conservation Center:

When I examined Mr. Okamoto’s image, what looked like an eye was the “subocular gland.”

Located in all antelopes.

The secretions from it are rubbed against trees and rocks to emphasize territory.
