NTT DOCOMO: Estimating deterioration with ‘Bridge deflection and vehicle weight’: Development of “Bridge deterioration estimation AI”

Simultaneously shoot videos of “vehicles running on bridges and bridge deflection and shaking that occur when they pass”.

We have developed “Bridge Degradation Estimation AI” that estimates the deterioration of bridges using AI.

From December 9, 2019 to September 30, 2020, we will conduct a demonstration experiment at Yao Ohashi in Toyama City.

Bridge Degradation estimation AI”:

First, a movie of the bridge and the vehicle running on the bridge is taken to estimate the weight of the vehicle.
Next, the deterioration state of the bridge is estimated by AI from the deflection (displacement) of multiple points on the bridge.
Bridge deflection is affected not only by deterioration but also by the weight of the vehicle.
Therefore, the deflection of the bridge is analyzed after estimating the weight of the vehicle.

We aim to put this technology into practical use until around 2022 and to realize bridge maintenance.
