JAXA: Solid rocket’Epsilon ‘, aiming for the moon: lunar orbit / micro probe

JAXA:

We will utilize the solid fuel rocket “Epsilon”.

It was discovered on April 13 that “we are considering a project to send an ultra-small spacecraft to the lunar orbit.”

We aim to launch it in the first half of the 2020s.

In the future, we will connect to the business of launching a spacecraft for lunar observation and anticipate the demand of universities / companies.

Solid rocket ‘: Epsilon’

It takes time to fill the fuel, which is not as easy as liquid-fuel rockets and is cheap.

Liquid fuels are mainly used for rockets aimed at lunar exploration in the past, such as Russia’s Luna and the Apollo Saturn rocket.

It is an unusual attempt to send a large number of probes with a solid fuel rocket.

Epsilon | Rocket |

The Epsilon rocket has lowered the threshold of space, which was previously “special”.

A solid rocket aimed at “realizing an era where everyone can actively use space”.

Under the voice of “the world’s most compact launch,”

We worked on reforming the overall launch system for operations, equipment, and aircraft.

devising to reduce vibration and sound,
A device that suppresses the shock when the rocket and satellite are separated,
A world-class ride quality has been achieved.
So far, four epsilon rockets have been launched from the Uchinoura Space Center, but all have been successful.
