Cray, Hitachi Provide Supercomputers for Japan Weather Bureau
Cray, in partnership with Japanese conglomerate Hitachi, has provided the Japan Meteorological Agency with two Cray XC50 supercomputers.
Hitachi serves as the prime contractor and systems integrator on the project.
The systems have been installed at JMA’s facility in Kiyose, Tokyo, and will assist the weather bureau in its atmospheric and oceanographic modeling, and weather forecasting functions, Cray said Monday.
