Terumo’s newly developed syringe has a needle that is 3 mm longer than the conventional type that assumes subcutaneous injection.
On May 5, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare approved the manufacture and sale.
To mass production of syringes for Japanese:
Generally, a 25 mm long needle is used for intramuscular injection.
we analyzed the body shape of Japanese people.
“We decided that a 16mm length would be sufficient.”
In the experiment, 7 doses were taken from a bottle of Pfizer vaccine.
The mass production system will be ready at the end of this month, and production will begin.
