COVID-19: ECMO, half of severely ill patients recovered: 19 out of 40 recovered
COVID-19:
By the end of March, 40 severely affected individuals with the new coronavirus had been treated with the ECMO artificial heart-lung machine.
About half of the population recovered, according to the statistics of the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine.
“ECMO”:
This is a cardiopulmonary bypass device that is said to be the “last trump card” for patients whose symptoms do not improve even with a ventilator.

Six of them died, but 19 recovered.
