Brazil: Successful launch of an independently developed satellite: Earth observation satellite Amazonia-1

February 28, Earth observation satellite “Amazonia-1”

Announced a successful launch from the Sriharikota sandbar in southern India.

India’s cooperation:

The launch was carried out with the cooperation of India, which has a well-established launch environment and conditions.

This project was realized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation in collaboration with the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB).

“Amazonia-1”:

The first satellite developed independently by Brazil.

By “Amazonia-1”

Amazon and coastal areas,

Reservoir monitoring,

Application to the agricultural field,

Image data can be acquired and remote sensing can be performed for the purpose of disaster countermeasures.

Also, the advantage of “Amazonia-1” is that Brazil can operate autonomously.

Joint satellite operation with China:

Brazil already has satellites (CBERS-4 and CBERS-4A) jointly operated by China and Brazil.

By combining with the images acquired by these satellites, more accurate observations will be possible.
