💡NICT, Niobium nitride for the first time in the world realized magnetic Josephson device

NICT’s research group, including Taro Yamashita, succeeded in the development of novel magnetic Josephson devices with nitride superconductors using niobium nitride for the first time in the world.

For the operation of superconducting devices using Josephson devices it is essential to generate a twist of the macroscopic phase by applying an external current or magnetic field. In the magnetic Josephson device developed this time, since the macroscopic phase itself can realize a twisted state, it is possible to drastically reduce the current and the magnetic field which were conventionally required, and the superconducting quantum computers and other It will be a major breakthrough for improving the performance of various superconducting devices.
