🍀Kobe Steel: Jointly Developing Robot System for Dissimilar Metal Joining with FANUC

Last year, Kobe Steel had devised a dissimilar metal joining method and an element arc spot welding method (= EASW) that can join ultra-high tensile steel plate and aluminum using arc welding and rivets.

In application to the automobile industry, it is indispensable to make a robot system, and this time, we took advantage of FANUC’s robot, engineering and sensor technology and set a goal for automation of this welding method.

Specifically, it performs a series of actions such as position detection of the image sensor by the image sensor, accurate movement of the robot, pressurization, feed and engagement of the element, and arc welding at high speed and automatically.

The merits of this method are mainly the following 4 points.
