🚖Nomura Research Institute successfully relieved heavy congestion by demonstrating advanced traffic signal system in Moscow city
NEDO, Kyosan Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Nomura Research Institute Co., Ltd. completed the demonstration project of the advanced traffic signal system which was carried out in collaboration with the Moscow City traffic control center (TsODD) of Russia.
In this demonstration project, we set up this system at five consecutive intersections in the city to resolve serious traffic congestion in Moscow city, and verified the effect of shortening the travel time of the car, We confirmed the effect of alleviating congestion by up to 40% in congestion time zone.
Based on this result, we can expect to contribute to reduction of CO2 emissions by reducing fuel consumption of cars and activation of economic activities by shortening travel time. Based on the results obtained from this demonstration project, we will aim to develop advanced traffic signal systems to other regions of Russia from now on. Nomura Research Institute (NRI)
