A bankruptcy application was filed on September 23, and most of the airlines under the umbrella were suspended.

Spain: Thomas Cook’s largest market

Spain is the biggest market for Thomas Cook.

The failure of the company has had a serious impact on the Spanish tourism industry.

Canary: foreign tourists

Spain as a whole (82.77 million in 2018): Occupies 17% (13.96 million) of foreign tourists.

British tourists: 5.12 million.
German tourists: 3.22 million.

Twenty-five percent (4.55 million) of foreign tourists who visited Canary State were passengers of Thomas Cook.

The dependence on the company was quite high.

In 2018, the number of tourists from the UK decreased by 320,000 (down 5.8%) from the previous year.

The tourism industry in Canary has a sense of crisis.
