🔬Elucidation of dynamic structural change of membrane protein April 17, 2018

– Cryo-electron microscope, visualization of new life phenomena in synchrotron radiation –

The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research – Synchrotron Radiation Research Center – Research Group succeeded in determining the three-dimensional structure of membrane proteins by combining cryo-electron microscope (single particle analysis method) and synchrotron radiation (X-ray crystal structure analysis).

Membrane proteins are used for various life activities with hydrogen ions flowing into cells as energy.

The research results will be published in the online science magazine ‘eLife’ (dated April 17) in the United States.
