Tohoku Univ .: Structure of protein responsible for structural transformation of chromosome is elucidated
【Point of presentation】
We have elucidated the three-dimensional structure of human histone chaperone HIRA by X-ray crystal structure analysis for the first time in the world.
We discovered that trimerization of HIRA is essential for interaction with histone and HIRA partner protein CABIN1.
It is expected that HIRA will be responsible for “the role of accumulating many proteins (involved in transcription and repair).”
The result of this research was posted on “Nature Communications” (electronic version) of the UK scientific journal at 10 o’clock August 6 (London time, Aug. 6, 18 o’clock Japan time).
