US:Increased imports from Vietnam,Mexico,Korea,Taiwan-US Int’l Trade Comm(ITC) DB

US first quarter 2019: Import value to China

Import to China decreased by 13.9% compared to the previous year (see article on June 6, 2019)

Meanwhile, imports from other major countries increased.

Import increase: country contribution (see table)

Vietnam (contribution rate 0.76 points)
Mexico (contribution rate 0.74 points)
Korea (contribution 0.52 points)
Taiwan (contribution 0.37 points)
US importers are shifting from China to these countries with the expansion of US and Chinese sanctions.

Imports from China: Declined main items (see Table 2 in the attached document)

We compare the amount of imports from China by the amount of reduced imports in five countries.

Mobile phone (HTS code 8517.12.10)

$ 7.3 billion from China, down 30.3%. China’s import share fell 22.3 points.

Vietnam: 2.7 times to $ 3.9 billion.

This is mainly due to South Korea’s Samsung Electronics shifting mobile phone production from China to Vietnam.

Printed circuit board (HTS code 8473.30.11)

It is $ 927 million, down 74.6% from China. China’s import share fell 47.3 points.

Taiwan: 3.5 times increase to $ 973 million.

Routing device (HTS code 8517.62.00)

Down 29.2% from China.

Vietnam: Expanded to $ 640 million 3.7 times.

Network equipment manufacturers such as Cisco Systems, Netgear, Alice International

These devices are imported. Some manufacturers have announced production cuts in China.
