Contaminated McDonald’s salad sickens nearly 400 people in the US
According to an investigation by the US Food and Drug Administration, McDonald’s restaurants in the midwest had received shipments of a tainted lettuce-and-carrot mix from a distributor called Caito Foods, based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The source of the outbreak was one of Caito Foods suppliers, California-based Fresh Express.
McDonald’s has since stopped selling lettuce that came from Caito Foods at some 3,000 locations in the affected area.
