💡AIST: Successful fabrication of flame-retardant magnesium alloy extruded material with remarkably improved mechanical properties

– Expectations for expanding applications to railway vehicle components –

NEDO and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Fuji Light Metal and Tobata Seisakusho succeeded in making flame-retardant magnesium alloy extruded materials with dramatically improved mechanical properties compared to conventional methods.
In the future, it is expected to expand the application of flame-retardant magnesium alloy to applications requiring high flame retardancy such as railway vehicle components, and it is expected to drastically reduce the weight of railway vehicles.
