Adidas closing Speedfactory robot factories in Germany and US
Adidas
is closing its high-tech “robot” factories in Germany and the US, the company announced on Monday.
These so-called “Speedfactory” locations
were originally opened in 2016 and 2017 in order to meet demand for faster delivery of new styles to the company’s major markets.
A global network of similar factories
was planned to counter rising wages in Asia and higher shipping costs.
Instead, the technologies pioneered in these factories will be applied to the company’s existing factories in Asia.
