Next-generation electronics: Tohoku Univ, world’s first to detect spin current as ‘voltage’ – nuclear spin can be used

– New possibilities for spintronics –

Point of presentation

There is a spin current arising from the spin (nuclear spin) which is the rotation of the nucleus.

It was the first time in the world to detect this as a voltage.

In the next generation electronics and spintronics, conduction electrons and spin waves were the main research targets.

In this research, the possibility of nuclear spin was suggested for next-generation electronics and spintronics.

The results are published online “Nature Physics” on October 22, 2018 (UK time).
