Toshiba: High precision gyro sensor

We have succeeded for the first time in the world in the development of a small module that does not require a large measurement control device.

This gyro sensor is a gyro sensor of angle / direct detection type.

Directly detects angles (changes in object orientation) with high accuracy.

“It can be mounted on small devices (robots, automatic guided vehicles, drones) that were difficult in the past.”

High-precision gyro sensor: main features

Conventional gyro sensors measure the angular velocity (time change of the angle) at which the device rotates and calculate it to find the angle.

The gyro sensor measures the rotation angle of the device directly, enabling both high accuracy and high speed response.

Integrated mechanical structure and electronic circuit on semiconductor substrate,
With MEMS technology, the sensor element itself is downsized,
Direct control by microcontroller,

We aim to ship samples from FY2021.

The technology will be announced on January 18, 2020, IEEE-MEMS 2020, Vancouver International Conference on January 22, 2020 (Japan time: January 23).
