Last year, only 1378 electric vehicles were imported into Japan-about 90% were Tesla vehicles

In 2014, Musk handed over Tesla’s first sedan, the Model S, to a customer.
At the Model S ceremony, he said he was looking forward to “Japan becoming one of the world’s most important markets for Tesla.”

However, Tesla has yet to disclose its shipments in Japan.
It is the only company that has been asking the Japan Automobile Importers Association not to announce Tesla sales.
Last year, about 90% of EVs imported by Japan were Tesla.
However, this is from other segments with a total sales of only 1378 units.
