1. Crude Oil Trends

Imports of crude oil in August amounted to 16.72 million kl, an increase of 105.9% compared to the same month last year, exceeding the previous year’s results for the first time in three months. Looking in descending order of import volume,

(1) Saudi Arabia (5.73 million kl, 85.9% of the same month the previous year)

(2) United Arab Emirates (49.4 million kl, 114.2% same)

(3) Qatar (1.42 million kl, 162.5% same)

(4) Kuwait (1.32 million kl, 134.0% same)

(5) Iran (870,000 kl, 165.3% same).

This month’s dependence on the Middle East was 89.2%, up 1.4 points from the same month of the previous year, exceeding the previous year for 13 consecutive months.

2. Production of fuel oil

Production of fuel oil was 14.47 million kl, 95.6% of the same month the year before, falling below the previous year for 9 consecutive months. As for oil type, jet fuel and A heavy oil exceeded the same month of the previous year, but gasoline, naphtha, kerosene, light oil and B · C heavy oil fell below the same month of the previous year.

3. Import and export of fuel oil

Imports of fuel oil fell to 2.85 million kl, a year-on-year decrease of 99.4% compared with the previous year. Exports came to 2.77 million kl, 85.9% of the same month the year before, falling below the previous year for 3 consecutive months.

4. Domestic sales of fuel oil

Domestic sales of fuel oil reached 13.93 million kl, a decrease of 98.9% from the same month of the previous year, for the sixth consecutive month, lower than the previous year. Looking at oil types, jet fuel oil, kerosene, light oil, A heavy oil, and B · C heavy oil exceeded the same month of the previous year, gasoline and naphtha fell below the same month of the previous year.

5. Stock of fuel oil

Inventory of fuel oil was 9,670,000 kl, 92.6% of the same month the year before last year, falling below the previous year for 5 consecutive months. In terms of oil type, gas oil, gasoline, naphtha, jet fuel oil, kerosene, A heavy oil and B · C heavy oil fell below the same month of the previous year
