On August 2, a media announcement was made in Shanghai regarding the contents of cooperation related to sales of “Nintendo Switch” in China.
Participants included Mr. Makoto Tsubaki, Senior Vice President, Mr. Kei Shibata of Nintendo, and Senior Executive Officer.
Joint sales: Overview
On April 18, Tencent obtained permission to sell “Nintendo Switch” and game software “New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe” from the government (see the article on April 25, 2019).
On April 26, Nintendo announced that it is working on joint sales of Nintendo switches with Tencent in China.
Cooperation in game software translation and online services
Tencent supports not only sales in China but also localization
Specific contents:
(1) Chinese translation of game software,
(2) Service construction suitable for Internet in China,
(3) Use of We Chat Pay at the Chinese version of Nintendo eShop
(4) Establishing an offline sales route and establishing a user exchange center.
Nintendo:
We provide repair services for products sold in China.
One-year repair warranty for hardware, repair / replacement / return of peripheral devices, etc.
