Takara Bio Co., Ltd. will release the Mycoplasma Detection Reagent Kit for use in quality testing of regenerative medicine etc. products from December 6 this year.
Mycoplasma is a small bacterium and it is known to have a harmful effect on cell proliferation and properties when infected with animal cells and the like.
Meanwhile, since mycoplasmas are extremely small, it is difficult to remove them with impurity removal filters used in manufacturing processes such as regenerative medicine etc. Mycoplasma infection is a major problem.
For these reasons, it is strongly required that denial of mycoplasma contamination be denied in products such as regenerative medicine with cells as its main component. Traditionally, the culture method has been implemented for infection detection, but the problem was that it took a long time (about one month) to judge the outcome.
