Sony: ToF sensor aims for mass production next year, aiming for smartphone 3D camera demand
Sony with world market share as image sensor:
Developed a ToF sensor that irradiates light to an object in 2017 and measures the distance at the arrival speed.
It is a policy to nurture it as a main product that follows the current mainstream CMOS sensor.
China’s Huawei technology adopts Sony’s ToF sensor for the latest 3D camera-equipped smartphone.
3D cameras are expected as an initiator with the introduction of the fifth generation (5G) of next generation communication standards.
