VW: Ordered from FANUC for EV production: 1,800 robots

Emden factory, Hannover factory in northern Germany,
At the Chattanooga plant in Tennessee, USA,
It announced on October 14 that it has ordered more than 2,200 robots for EV production.
FANUC and ABB:
The suppliers are FANUC and ABB.
EV production on the line using robots will start in 2022.
FANUC:
VW’s passenger and commercial vehicle division has ordered more than 1,400 robots from FANUC.
FANUC’s robots will be launched at the Emden and Chattanooga plants.
ABB:
Meanwhile, about 800 units have been ordered from ABB and will be used at the Hannover plant.
EV model production of 75 models:
Production of SUV ID.4 will begin in 2022 at the Emden and Chattanooga plants.
Production of the multipurpose EV van ID.BUZZ begins at the Hannover plant.
VW will bring to market 20 EV models by 2025 and about 75 EV models by 2029.
EV production is expected to reach 1.5 million units in 2025.

FANUC’s German sales:
In 2017, it reached a record high of about 226 million euros, sold more than 5,000 robots, and has a market share of 25%.
In 2017, we set up a development base for FA equipment and industrial robots in Neuhausen, Stuttgart, southwestern Germany.
On September 20, 2020, it announced that it would build the “European Development Center,” which is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

Volkswagen Group invests in automation for Emden, Hanover and Chattanooga plants
The Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands are working flat out on the transformation to the e-mobility era and the conversion of plants to e-mobility.
The Volkswagen brand
has now ordered more than 1,400 robots from Japanese manufacturer FANUC for its production facilities at Chattanooga (USA) and Emden.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles
has ordered a further 800 robots for its Hanover plant from ABB of Switzerland.
The robots are to be mainly used for body production and battery assembly.
The three plants
are currently being prepared for the production of electric cars using highly advanced facilities.
From 2022, the ID.4 is to be produced at Chattanooga (USA) and Emden,
while the model known under the show car name of ID. BUZZ is to roll off the production line at Hanover.
