NTT Com: World’s highest level 400 Gbps transmission platform: between Tokyo and Osaka

December 9, 2019:

NTT Com:

Core low-loss large-diameter optical fiber (CSM: long-distance, large-capacity transmission) cable * 1″

Completed the development of the most advanced advanced digital coherent optical transmission device * 2.

The world’s highest level  “400Gbps transmission infrastructurewas built between Tokyo and Osaka.

This transmission infrastructure is built into the “SINET5 backbone operated by NII”.

400Gbps transmission infrastructure“:

(1) Realization of large-capacity communication with high-performance transmission infrastructure

This time, the 400 Gbps transmission platform has achieved a transmission capacity that is approximately 170 times that of 2000.

(2000: WDM * 5 wavelength division multiplexing technology adopted)

(2) Realization of high reliability by reducing the number of relay transmission devices

Adopting core low loss large diameter optical fiber cable,
Minimizing cable routes,
Devices such as long-distance cable laying

The optical loss value has been reduced by 40% * 9.

This reduction in the optical loss value can reduce the number of relay transmission devices by half and reduce the risk of failure to 50%.
