NTT: Safe driving support in heavy fog: 5G + thermal / 4K camera

In Oita Prefecture, we will conduct a verification test of a support system that allows safe driving even in dense fog.
During driving, image recognition of surrounding vehicles and guardrails,
Display on the in-car display in real time with 5G,
This is the first demonstration experiment in Japan.
Demonstration experiment contents:
This demonstration experiment utilizes the features of 5G’s high speed, large capacity, and low delay.
In the dense fog, image shooting with a camera mounted on the vehicle (thermal / 4K camera),
With 5G, transmission to DOCOMO Open Innovation Cloud ™ (hereinafter cloud),
Analysis with DOCOMO’s image recognition engine (cloud implementation)
The result is displayed on the vehicle / head-up display,
Recognition target:
Vehicle ahead,
White line on the highway,
Recognize the guardrail beside the highway,
Drivers can see the lanes and vehicles ahead even in dense fog with unclear visibility.
